My husband's back from Iraq! And he'll be home for Christmas this year! And then in the spring he'll be done for good! Hurray!
I am a grown-up, but I'll never act like it. I kind of go through phases where I'll wall like crazy, and then suddenly lose interest. Don't worry, though. I always come back.
I am very detail-oriented. I usually come across as a mean person, but never without reason. Don't take it personally if I tear you apart, I do have good intentions. Mostly. Sometimes I do want to beat you to within an inch of your life. I won't lie, when someone writes something like "please be nice" in their description, I make it a point to go over EVERY aspect of their wall that needs work. I hate when people have really short descriptions of their walls, when they don't link to the original image if it's in the gallery, and when they link Minitokyo rather than the AP gallery. I also don't care for non-English speakers using a lot of English text in their walls when it leads to typos, and especially when the typos are not edited in a revision.
If you spam anywhere and I see it, I will report you. Be aware of that and make real comments. You'll get more papers, and I know that's why you were spamming in the first place.
Don't whine that you don't know how to vector. There are tutorials all over the place, for whatever program you're using. Yes, even GIMP. You clearly have internet, so take advantage of Google and get educated. Don't be lazy.
One of my biggest pet peeves: wallers who never branch out from one series. With the ever-expanding gallery here, not to mention the millions [that's probably an exaggeration, deal with it] of other galleries available on the internet, there's no way you can't find something else that interests you. I get it, you love Tsubasa Chronicle, but there are tons of other CLAMP works to play around with, and six times as many other artists or series that could use your love. It's one thing to do a series of wallpapers featuring a couple of characters in different settings. It's entirely different to have your entire portfolio display only Bleach walls.
Another big pet peeve: wallers who can't take criticism and lash out by commenting their own wall with a huge attitude. If you post here, you must be aware that not everyone will love what you've done. Some people will kiss up to you, some people will sugar-coat their suggestions, and some people [like me] will tell you flat out what needs work. If you take at least some of the advice you're given, you'll grow as an artist. If you get hung up on one thing someone says [or many people say]and lash out, you look immature and you won't improve your skill.
If you've read all of this, send me a PM and ask me a question--any question. I'll answer honestly and ask you something in return. Answer with "rhubarb" and there'll be something in it for you.
